Arboreal Selfies | 07.22.23 – 08.19.23
Ray has always enjoyed toying with his found materials to bring alive the animated images that lie within the wood. The tree creates the images, for it lives inside of it until Ray is able to discover it. The tree has a “memory” and all that it contains is sacred and part of its being. These “selfies” are inherent parts of the wood and Ray’s use of the skins and natural elements are a way to pay respect to the tree and of the natural pathways within nature.
Featuring homemade instruments in the Hoag gallery, you are more than welcome to interact with the instruments. Unlike any other exhibitions where you cannot touch the exhibit pieces, this one is encouraged to interact with all the instruments and start drumming! This one of a kind exhibit is only open for one month, so please come in and enjoy the homemade instruments while you can!
