Children's Playhouse Series 2018-19 Season

The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center’s Children’s Playhouse Theatre is designed for family enrichment and entertainment.  Tickets for the performances are $8 ($7 for Arts Center Members) or can be purchased as a season for the discounted price of $24 ($20 for Arts Center Members).

National Juggling Champion and movement artist Peter Davison presents juggling, unicycling, balancing, acrobatics, and more, while teaching the science behind the artistry. This S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, ARTS, Math) program is a perfect mix of education and entertainment. Much more than a “science demonstration,” Peter mixes awesome circus skills with dance and physical theater in a unique presentation that captivates all ages.

Nationally-known comedian Todd Oliver travels all over the country with his amazing talking dog and hilarious comedy. With audience participation segments, original music, and outrageous comedy, Irving the talking dog turns everyday K-9 experiences into a howling good time!

Audience members young and old will easily follow Clara's dreamy winter adventure in this condensed and narrated version of the Sangre de Cristo Ballet's annual production of Nutcracker, The Ballet designed for children of all ages. This beloved holiday classic follows Clara on a magical journey as she battles the infamous Rat King and travels through the Kingdom of Sweets where she meets the Snow Queen, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and other fanicful treats from distant lands. Watch the story come alive through dance, with costumes and sets that will fuel the imagination!
 

Morgan’s Journey has been delighting children and their families around the world for nearly three decades. The play is a captivating exploration of joyous yet challenging childhood experiences and offers audiences a unique opportunity for active participation. From the moment of his birth, we follow Morgan the Clown on a journey of discovery. We delight in the presents he receives, especially his last one, a wise sock puppet who becomes his companion.
