About the exhibition:

Trained as a painter, Caroline Peters' art also includes projects in video, Internet art, and performance.
In these recent drawings she explores her connection to outmoded manifestations of Americana (ex. hippy communes) as well as the imprints of time recorded in her immediate surroundings. In her drawings she connects with fragments of history that are on the brink of dissolution brought about by the social and economic forces of American society. The perspectives she is interested in are not conventional, but exist in the minds of the individuals who lived their lives among the objects and structures that are her subjects. Instead of a precise rendering based on photographic sources, she makes these works over the course of several weeks and under varying conditions.
Caroline Peters is the recipient of the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center Award from the 2017 Colorado State Fair.  She currently lives in Pueblo, Colorado, where she is an Associate Professor at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
