Candidacy Announcement General Info

The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center offers an opportunity for individuals to announce their candidacy at the Arts Center with a waived rental fee.  Eligible events would take place in pre-approved areas on campus at no charge to the candidate.  Although a donation is not required, donations are welcome.

Candidacy Announcement Guidelines (Specifics)

Fee Schedule. For short presentations/announcements under 25 minutes that require no set up, equipment, or special arrangements, Sangre de Cristo Arts Center will make a suitable area of the venue available for no fee.*  Please see our rental fee schedule for pricing on room setup, audio/visual equipment, etc. if requested.  Tor reserve your space and time, or to request a copy of fees for additional services, please contact Lorrie Marquez at (719) 295-7212 or lorrie@sdc-arts.org.

Event Restrictions:

  1. Must occur during regular scheduled business hours: 9 am – 5 pm Monday – Saturday, 12 – 4 pm Sunday.
  2. May not be held within one hour before or after any scheduled Art Center events, rental events or other candidate announcements. 
  3. If candidate announcement includes more than one candidate, the time limit remains 25 minutes maximum.

Disclosure. It will be stated in context with the event/presentation that any statements, comments, positions or views expressed by the user do not necessarily represent the views of Sangre de Cristo Arts Center or that the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center supports any individual campaigning for office.  The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center logo may not be used for promotion without prior written consent.

Unlawful Purpose. The venue/facility and grounds shall no, be used for any unlawful purpose. Sangre de Cristo Arts Center reserves the right to refuse use of the facility and grounds to any organization or individual in the event that a program or its content does not comply with Sangre de Cristo Arts Center’s policies and guidelines. Plans for facility use must be discussed and/or submitted by the user to Sangre de Cristo Arts Center prior to contracting.

Anti-Discrimination. There shall be no discrimination, or promotion of discrimination, against or segregation of any person or group of persons on account of race, color, religion or creed, national origin or ancestry, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation, age, marital or domestic partner status, political affiliation, military status, or disability (including HIV or AIDS status) in the use the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center venue.

Child Protection. The Buell Children’s Museum resides in a section of the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center campus, which is owned in part by The Pueblo County Government. In compliance with Colorado Revised Statues (C.R.S.; Section 18-6-401, Section 19-3-304, and others that may apply) regarding the protection of children and reporting of alleged abuse, Sangre de Cristo Arts Center retains the right to refuse use of the venue, if in its view, it feels the intended use or potential attendees, may present a threat to the safety and welfare of children that may be present, or harm Sangre de Cristo Arts Center’s ability to provide a safe and conflict-free environment for children.

  1. If the potential user disagrees with the decision of the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center staff member delegated to supervise venue use, they may file an appeal to the Board of Directors. The appeal will be reviewed by the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. That review must be conducted within 5 (five) business days of receipt; decisions are final.

Safety & Security. For general safety, the user and attendees of the user are permitted to have access to the contracted use space. Any non-contracted spaces are off-limits at all times.

  1. Sangre de Cristo Arts Center reserves the right to require the user, at user’s expense, to hire additional security personnel for the event should Sangre de Cristo Arts Center determine it would helpful to ensure safety and traffic control.
  2. Any loss or damage to the facility caused by the user, attendees, associates and/or staff may result in a damage assessment fee.

General Use Policy. The current general venue use policies and procedures that pertain to the use of Sangre de Cristo Arts Center’s venues by users, renters, licensees and their employees, volunteers, agents, vendors, subcontractors, and other representatives remain in effect.
