Super Squad 5: Comics, Cartoons, & Creativity

June 10 to October 27, 2018

With information about the history of cartooning, the development of the comic book genre (especially relating to super heroes), and a station to build your own comic book - complete with characters & story. Children will learn about the five elements of art (line, shape, color, texture, & story) through a narrative with a super hero based on each element as the students do their part to combat various super-villains at the project stations.

The exhibition will include such activities as:

  • Learning about the five elements of art (line, shape, color, texture, & story) through a narrative with a super hero based on each element
  • Creating art projects using art mediums such as drawing/sketching, painting, and sculpture
  • Learning about the science of flight and other “superpowers”
  • Dressing up in costumes inspired by various super heroes (fictional and real life)
  • Learning about the history of super heroes in literature and cinema
