Youth Yoga

This class will introduce students to yoga as a tool to help with memory, concentration, and muscle strengthening. Regular yoga practice may also help students with their mood and dealing with stress.
Note: This is a combined session course; if seats are full in this session’s registration, you may enroll in the session for ages 6th Grade-8th Grade (these are the same class).

Intro to Dance
Instructor: Kayla Gray
Class Time: 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

In this course students learn elements of ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary dance while focusing on the technical aspects of dance: technique, motor skill development, and coordination. Students will be encouraged to develop positive self-expression, musical interpretation, flexibility, strength, balance, and grace. This class places an emphasis on celebrating personal achievements, encouraging friendships, and utilizing team work. Learning outcomes for this course include that students will learn and develop technique in the center and across the floor, as well as incorporating movement into larger dance combinations. Through creative movement, students will develop vocabularies and tools to aid in creating movement.

Advanced Scene Study
Instructor: Jerica Khosla
Class Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Cost (12 sessions): $120 (Member: $108)*
Cost (Per Week): $10 (Member: $9)*
In this class, students will push their acting craft to new heights. Every step of the acting process will be explored and dissected: from the reading of the play to script analysis to in-class scene workshopping. The class will culminate with a performance of a scene or monologue. The goal of this class is to help students gain a clearer understanding of the process it takes to give an outstanding performance.

Parents/guardians are required to sign-in and sign-out students. Students will only be released to adults indicated in their registration. For unforeseen/last minute pick-up changes, please call 719-295-7200. Drop off and pick up are located at the Kid Rock Café (the east entrance of the Buell Children’s Museum – first level).
Students may be dropped off no more than 15 minutes before class and no later than 15 minutes after their last class. If a student has classes both before and after the noon hour, the student may eat a packed lunch from home on campus. No food will be provided by the Arts Center. A staff member will chaperone the lunch hour from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
