Landscape: the Inception of the Painting
Michael Ome Untiedt
Sat. June 14 and Sun. June 15, 9:30 am to 5:00 pm
In this intensive two-day workshop, artist Michael Ome Untiedt explores the steps of inception of a painting. You will begin by exploring the painting “idea,” and the reason or psychology behind the subject you wish to paint. Next, engage in a careful study of composition including the division of space on the pictorial plane and the selection of key elements and movements of the painting. Learn about golden proportions; work with shape decisions, refinements, and value patterning. You will create one painting from a common reference provided by the artist, as well as seeing this painting completed in demonstration by the artist. You will also work on one or more paintings of your own choosing, accompanied by personal attention and help from Untiedt. Each day will end with a critique of the day’s work. All medium and skill levels are welcome.
