Featuring the early works of John Hurtig, James Gardner and Norman Froelich
The Boardroom gallery will feature student drawings by the architects who designed the Arts Center. HGF architects, a renowned Pueblo architecture firm, was founded by John Hurtig, Jim Gardner and Norm Froelich. These three architects went to school together at Kansas State and later on, all three studied under the well-known architect Bruce Goff at the University of Oklahoma. Upon graduating, the three architects came to Pueblo and opened the architectural firm HGF Architects.
This exhibit features drawings each did in architecture school. These interesting, colorful creations will give you a taste of the unique, architectural ideas each of the three had. Their designs are well-known to Puebloans, and they have helped shape the landscape of Pueblo by designing buildings like the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, the Pueblo Plaza Ice Arena, and the Pueblo City Schools (District #60) Administration Building.
