The Board of Trustees consists of 35 voting persons, ten appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Pueblo County, ten appointed by the Pueblo City Council and fifteen selected by other members of the current Board of Trustees. One position is held by the President of the Arts Associates, the vounteer corps of the Arts Center. Additionally, the Pueblo County Commissioners, Pueblo City Council, Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and the Latino Chamber of Commerce each may have a non-voting board position.

Terms

Members of the Board of Trustees serve terms of 3 years each, which shall be staggered so that the Board will elect five each year, the Board of County Commissioners of Pueblo County will select no more than four in any one year and the City Council of Pueblo may select no more than four in any one year, other tahn to fill vacancies. One year terms apply where specified.

Nominations

The Nominating Committee presents its nominations to the Board of Trustees for persons to join the Board—elected Trustees then vacant or expiring at the end of the year.

One or more additonal nominations from the floor shall be accepted at the meeting if made by a Trustee in attendence and seconded by another Trustee in attendence. One or more additional nominations may also be submitted in writing to the Board Chair at least 10 days before the meeting. Any nominations submitted in writing shall be signed by a Trustee as the nominator and by a second Trustee as the seconder.

The election of Trustees for full terms shall take place at a duly-scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees. At such meeting, the Secretary shall distribute to all Trustees present printed ballots containg, in alphabetical order, the names of all persons nominated by the Nominating Committee and by petition to serve as Board-appointed Trustees.

In voting on the persons nominated, each Trustee shall have as many votes as there are positions to be filled by the Board. Those nominees receiving the largest number of votes shall be elected to serve for the next term.

In the event that there are only as many nominations as there are positions to be filled, the Board may, upon proper motion from the floor, dispense with ballots and vote on the entire slate of candidates by voice vote.
